Today, with the technology advancements that are taking place in India, mobile data and Wi-Fi come very easily. However, there are times, when you are on the way back home, travelling out of town, in the end of your monthly data cycle or just want a lightweight app for your needs without worrying about myriad notifications. Google Maps

This is the most common app used by many to navigate across cities, towns and move from one point from another. Although Google Maps tends to work better when connected online, providing real time updates, the app also has an offline feature. You can use the offline maps to search, get directions and use navigation without an internet connection. You can do it by just visiting the Offline areas tab in the settings menu. From there you can download full city maps, including Google's excellent navigation system, for use without internet.

Pocket is one of the best apps for saving things for later. It is also one of the most popular offline reading apps on the Play Store. You can save any articles, videos, and other content you find online to your device, then read it offline later. The app syncs across your phone, tablet, and computer so you can come back to it whenever and wherever you'd like, even when you're offline. You can save to Pocket from pretty much anywhere, including your computer, Safari, email, and your favorite apps like Facebook, Twitter, Flipboard, and Feedly.

Google Play describes it as "The whole of Wikipedia on your device!" As such, Kiwix is an offline content reader which can be used to download and browse Wikipedia as well as other sources such as Ubuntu documentation, WikiLeaks, WikiSource, WikiVoyage, etc. It is a light weight android App with easy to use interface. It also provides search option to find a specific content.

Netflix

Netflix is one of the world's best subscription service for watching TV episodes and movies on the phone. Users can watch Netflix on one device, and resume watching on another, covering TVs, game consoles, tablets, phones, Blu-ray players and set top boxes. Recently, Netflix launched a new version of their app that allows users in India to download the videos and watch them on the go, without having to pay extra apart from the usual monthly subscription fee.
